Hey Guys, you ever ues them to send in your engine oil for analysis? Anybody have another company then prefer?

Seems like Blackstone charges $22.50 per analysis.

I've got my free test kit from Blackstone, but the instructions seem to assume a complete oil change. Is there a way to send in an oil in for analysis without changing it completely? In my case, I've put about 10k on the car since the last oil change and am wondering if I should change the oil early due to frequent autocrosses, or if the 15k intervals anticipate a reasonable bit of spirited driving. I haven't done any DEs (yet), but do plan to as soon as I can afford it.

Read their online instructions. They do not want the first or the last part of the oil to come out of the drain pan. This would indicate a complete oil change.

I must be a complete nut as I never have let an oil change go over 10,000 miles, Mobil 1 or not!

Blackstone saved me from paying for an engine from GM a few years ago. Started testing oil as warranty was expiring as recommended on a forum like this one. Tests showed possible problems (head gasket), warranty expires...booom it busts. GM fights, and I use Blackstone results which I had notified dealer of during warranty period as my evidence of a pre-existing condition. I yell...I rant...I win...end of story

Blackstone was my ace in the hole. I will now always have my cars tested in the last few oil changes when the warranty is about to expire. Tranny fluid might also be a good etst as well.

In use Blackstone on the 964 and my F-250 diesel. They are prompt, courteous and their reports are easier to read.
Fwiw, I change the diesel at 5,000 with Delo and the 964 that is DE'd every third event with Brad Penn 20-50

Build the tests in bulk and it cost a lot less.

I used Blackstone for all my cars.

I picked up a syringe and length of tube from the local hardware store and did this last week. Haven't got the report back yet.

Have been using Blackstone for a few years now, I really like the reports.

With respect, even with autocrossing a 10,000 mile change interval is IMO way too long, despite the factory's 15,000 mile recommendation.

No but on my truck the told me I could go longer. I think back then I was changing fluid in the diesel every 3k and they said could go at least 4k - 4.5k. Nice savings when you're using 15 quarts a pop...paid for the analysis right there.

JMHO, but Stavely Labs has been much more consistent in their test results than Blackstone, at least for me.

Those folks are now the only ones we'll use.
