I'm currently on the hunt for an additional set of 18" wheels. (BLACK)... I'd settle for the proposed wheels that Chad is discussing but would have to be certain of the quality, etc. I love the BBS's I have and would prefer that but the cost is steep as an extra set. Currently I also have (and will be selling) 17" Cups (seems inconsistant alignment issues when switching between these and my 18" BBS) and an 18" set of Turbo Twists. (Not my Cup of Tea)

I know for a fact that James Clay at Bimmerworld would not sell crap to his racing customers.

Why not try? WTF? Why the fock would you shoot down an idea before it's even realized without seeing if it ....just......might....work? WTF is wrong with you guys?

(I now remember why I had so much fun passing Porsches with my M3's. Time and time and time again...)

**edit** Einke NT03 is anoteh great light / inexpensive wheel in this sector.
Oh, okay. You had mentioned the Ultraleggeras, which is where the $830 came from.

Chad, take it easy. Sounds like someone's having a case of the Mondays.

(It's a joke, it's a joke!)

I would be game for an economical set of track wheels, anything with a 5x130 bolt pattern makes prices go astronomical because porsche owners CAN afford it. I've had some experience with a kosei on a BMW and they are great wheels.

Why screw around organizing a group buy for custom D-Force wheels when you can get a set of the Enkei NT03's in the bolt pattern and offset you need for around $1200? I'm not a fan of cast wheels but there are a lot of BMW/Subaru/EVO guys tracking the Enkei's without any issues.

Can and Want too are two different things. Particularly now...

Chad,

When you settle down you may have enough interest with some people here to get somewhere on a reasonable priced set(s) of wheels. I'm in as long as they are Black, are gun mettle gray, etc. You know us P-Car guys were Vain

I simply do not understand you guys whatsoever.

I cannot tell you how many times I have tried to generate interest in something with fellow Porsche-folks, only to have it shot down because it is not the "usual thing to do". Please...

Folks there are plenty of aftermarket solutions out there that are MUCH better than the factory crap for much, much less money. Remember - Porsches are assembled just like every other vehicle on the road.

Sorry...my Porsche is not to jerk off to. It is being built to drive the **** out of...

Great idea,
The price for Porsche wheels is outrageous! The 5x130 bolt pattern always seems to add >50% to the price.
I'm interested in 17x9s for my 86 951. The trouble is that all of us want different offsets and different sizes....

Dude, nothing for nothing, but if you've ever seen or had a wheel break, it can be catastrophic. When you are racing a car and banging the crap out of the wheels over curbs, especially when sliding and catching the curbs a little sideways, you don't want to worry about the wheels breaking. If you look at any proper racing wheel, it will have many spokes and when they do break (and they all break including BBS), they break in an area, but the wheel still stays together. Racing on a spindly little 5 spoke wheel doesn't seem smart or safe to me regardless of how many BMWs, Minis, Evos, Subis, etc run on them.

Thanks for the feedback Geoffrey. (Even before you looked into the specs of the wheel.)

If any of you are indeed interested, I have received further information from the President of the wheel company and have started a thread for interested parties.

If you would rather flame me for trying, please keep that here so we can mock you later.

New thread:

Wheel thread

Thanks and happy motoring.

Chad, these might fit the bill if you're looking for 18x8.5"
