Default Cost effective lightweight wheels...

Man...I wish someone would step up and make a style of wheels that are great for track. Lightweight, relatively strong and cost effective.

BMW folks have a ton of choices from Racing Dynamics to Kosei's. Why can't someone step up and make a sets of 17's and 18's for 911-944-951-968-964-993-996....they're all relatively the same.

In the long run, BBS wheels are cost effective when you think about wheel maintenance, ease of repair, and cost of repair parts. The initial cost of entry is high, but over the course of the life of a wheel, I think they are a cost effective product.

I'm sorry my friend. I have to disagree.

I had sets of Kosei K1's and SSR's for my past BMW's. They worked out fantastic. Total cost for the Kosei's with Kumho V700's was under $1500. NOt to mention the wheels weighed in at 17lbs a corner.

We (racers and Weekend track junkies) need some more cost effective solutions. I challenge someone to step up and make this happen. I am willing to bet they would sell very well. I'd sure buy a set....or two.

While OE wheels are indeed strong...they are also VERY heavy. I'd love find some ltw wheels out there that fit these cars.

I just picked up 2 sets of 18" race model Enkei's and they're light and durable. Not as bullet proof as BBS but 1/3 the price.

I believe the maxim regarding wheels is:

Cheap, strong, light. Choose two.

I've been eye balling those as well. That's one option. But still wheels at $325+ a piece. Kosei's are presently listed at $125 each (17x8.5). Racing Dynamics are listed at $190 (17x8) each.

Call me a cheap bastage all you want. I'd like to see some like this listed for us as well. I could then focus on buying some more Hoo-sure-daddy's.

Don't be blind to the possibilities guys. I beat the crap out of those Kosei's (see curbs at Road Atlanta) and they kept going.

Soo...let me get this straight. You guys would rather keep spending $325 a wheel+. Is that what I am hearing?

Ask Andy Jenks about cheap wheels...

No, I'd rather spend whatever it costs to have a BBS Racing wheel.

That's excellent for the "what budget?" racers out there. Sorry to say, I do not fit that model. And, I am sure there are others out there as well.

Let's try this again:

Cheap, strong, light, good-looking. Choose three.

The Koseis are not bad looking wheels but think they would look like *** on a 911/993. According to Tire Rack, the Koseis do not fit my car.

Cheap wheels - the phrase gives me the *******.
Not that I want to spend more than necessary, but even I drive fast enough to be in trouble if a wheel breaks.

Uh Mark...we know this. It's called a compare and contrast. It does not take much to contact manufacturers and have them drill/machine wheels to fit our cars.

If fact...screw it. I'll call a few. sheesh...

I don't get you guys sometimes.
