batteries are the worst part of this camera. I have quite a few go pro videos in car, out of car, bumper, rear view, suspension view, front wheel view, etc sound is bad, but if you have it on the rear bumper out of the air stream, its much better. (rear view cam)

batteries have to be lithiums, or rechargable NMHi. I have radio shack rechargables that were fine at first, but now cant last more than 15min. will have to try some other rechargable types

It would have been great if they installed a little liPo battery and a charging port!

I just bought Hero's new roll bar mount at Sears Point and it works really well mounted on the cross bar just behind the seats. Sounds isn't good but the video is great. I took out the lens cover and drilled holes in the case trying to get the sound to improve but didn't work. I bought ten pounds of Costco AAA batteries and most pairs last for 1/2 hour or so.

Here is the best use of the camera, as far as sound and function. n car, is not as good as normal video cameras, but the air dam view and fender cam is pretty cool visually.

I placed mine upsice down in the space between the windshield and the rearview mirror. You obviously get no shot of the car interior but it gives a good view of the action. I bought mine last year and there was no wide angle version, that would be an improvement. As others have indicated, battery life is not good but some report getting enough to fill the 2 gb card so that's at least reasonable.

So how strong is that suction cup mount? Has anyone had one fall off at speed? I'm thinking a mount location down low on the door facing forward to watch the front wheel would be cool. Will it stay sucked on?

Ive raced with it there and have done a lot of experimenting with it. Its not going to come off. the suction is more than enough. I was having some wheel rub issues up front and stuck the thing on the door and watched the front wheel do it is thing. I always do this during qualifying to see the motion of the tire and its a cool view of the track as well.

Here is an example
