Default Durometer Thoughts?

I do for the past few years. Helps tell what the rubber is like that you are running, or mixing and matching on your car. Once you establish a baseline for a fresh set of sticker tires, you can tell what you have in the way of hardness as you use the tires, or substitute partially used tires. All heat cycles are not alike.

We use one. Proved especially useful when we were running nothing but takeoff slicks. Proves useful now when figuring out how to mix/match front and rear tires that wear at different rates.

While we're discussing tire stuff...a tire tread depth gauge is cheap and nice to have around the trailer as well. There's one in Bull's link for $20 and it also comes packaged with the Durometer.

i bought the longacre package deal a few years back...comes with a nice case too

Slicks, while having no tread at all, have tread measurement holes. Not sure if R-comps have the same.
