Default Very cool camera mount...

Hey doods...check this out.

A fellow racer out there made his own billet camera mount. It has a great price at $89. I just ordered one. Much less bulky than the I/O Port racing version. Although, it does have less adjustability, I don't see how it would be a problem getting it to adjust properly.

No affiliation. Simply thought you guys would be interested.

Nice and simple design! I've never been very happy with solid mounted camera mounts for anything larger than a bullet cam. The IOPort, while bulky, does a great job of isolating the camera from vibration (which is good for your videos and good for the camera internals).

FYI, the price on the website is $95.

There is a distributor listed (rennenmetal?) that has it for less. Although, I bought from this guy. It was only $2 more with shipping.

IO Port looks like a robotic arm.

Default Camera mount

It is a simple design and seems like it should be significantly cheaper.

The IO Port is only $15 more and has 3 axis adjustment and much sturdier.

I would like a simple $40-50 mount, but for $90+ I would spend the extra for IO Port.

Looks neat, but I'd bet the vibration will be too severe.

I have had that mount for several years... first with a mini DV Sony HandyCam, and now with a bullet camera. Works ok, but lacks a little in adjustability with a camcorder.

The I/O Port unit is just a Bogen tripod head and a few additional parts. I made one over 10 years ago by purchasing a Bogen tripod mount (the same one I/O Port uses) for $20, and fabbing it up with a small square piece of metal and a couple of muffler clamps. Took about 15 minutes of measuring, marking and drilling and cost a grand total of $40.

IMHO I've been using the IO Port camera mount for years and can't see going to anything else due to the adjustment and vibration dampening...have had a full-sized video camera on it and now run a tiny Chasecam bullet/lipstick version and the 3 axxis adjustments make it perfect.

I do like that camera mount, nice and light...and simple though.
