Jack,

I have one heck of a push going right now. managable , but im thinking I need more tire up front. do you think its worth the squirmy tread possiblity of using a 305 35 up front on a 10" rim. (characteristic of using a too large width of tire on a narrow rim) Its on there now, but havent done too much track time on it, as ive been adressing tire rub due to its hight and width.
Or would a properly fit 275 be better, but using the wider fender room now, with the use of spacers?

you are mid 20 psi hot on your pressures??? wow

What kind of car? Are you serious? I have been running the same M3 since I joined RennList, Mark. No commuting, though. My car is not street legal: I tow it to the track.

And it was slightly more than 30, not exactly sure the number. I stopped counting at 30. And, just like RA1's, they were goo to the cords (and were best just before they corded).

Maybe you are overdriving your NT01's?

Is it true that the rubber compound on the NT01 is the exact same as the R888?

I've read in some forums that it is, and some forums that it isn't.

If they are the same, then the only difference is the grooving, right? Maybe sidewall stiffness?

Michael, I can't say this with authority, but I've heard that the RA1 and Nitto NT01 are the same rubber compound (Toyo owns Nitto) -- although the tread pattern and architecture are different. I'm pretty sure the R888 (which is Toyo's designated successor to the RA1) uses a different compound. It doesn't last as long and does best (I'm told) with higher hot pressures. It may or may not be quicker than the RA1, depending on who you talk to.

And Mark, I don't know much at all about setup tricks for a front-engine monster like the 928. Does the NT01 even come in a 305? Or are we talking about the RA1?

IMO, it's an internet myth that's traveled around just about everywhere.

I suspect that is only known by chemical engineers within Toyo/Nitto.
