Well, this past weekend, my first set of NT01's gave up the ghost. I ended up cording 3 of the 4 of them by Sunday afternoon. Having previously used & loved the RA1's, I was interested to see if NT01's were as close to RA1's as folks have said.
They were, and they weren't.
Obviously, full tread NT01's are not like shaved RA1's until they wear down some tread, but they weren't bad. And they did get a lot better when they wore down. In fact, they might be a tiny bit quicker worn down than shaved RA1's. But they are a lot more sensitive to pressures/temperatures than RA1's, and they seem to also prefer less negative camber, likely due to having stiffer sidewalls. I found via probe pyrometer that they preferred slightly higher cold pressures than the RA1's, but even a pound too much created a tire that went away a lot faster, unlike RA1's.
As for wear, I got approximately 30 very hard heat cycles from my set...so excellent value!

One thing I forgot to add: like RA1's, they work well on damp/drying tracks.

What pressures did you end up with hot that worked? There was a thread last year that discussed running these tires at very low pressures.

Tim, were you asking the purveyor of all automotive knowledge, or me?
IIRC we ran ours around 34~36 lbs depending on car (951 & 993) and tire size.

VR a timely post, as I have a set of NT-01's delivered this week. 245/40/18 and 315/30/18. Can you give me an idea as to what your car's wt and and what type of pressures u ran. Also if you don't mind sharing what type of temps were you pulling off of them. Thanks.

I know you did, grandpa...but I just got around to trying them this year! ![evilgrin](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/evilgrin.gif)
Frank & Tim, I really didn't pay attention to hot pressures, since I was using a pyrometer. I ended up with cold pressures of 25 front, 23 rear, on a car that with drover + fuel is about 3,100-3,200 pounds.

Frank, I forgot to add that I was seeing (on dry track) around 180 to 185 degrees in the hottest sectors of the tires on a warm 80 degree day.
