BMW S54 has double VANOS (variable cams) and makes 330 hp. S52 engine in the E36's has single VANOS and makes 247 hp. I'm going on memory. Hope I've got that right. My Z3 M Coupe has the S52 but it will still scoot.

The Euro E36 M3 engine made 321hp DIN. But the S54 is still a better motor for racing IMO.

Come on 30 pages!

Did anyone here ever compete in American Gladiators in the 1980's?

Dave, I could help by changing the forum default to fewer posts per page. Go to 40 pages easy!

Meh.

I'd rather be 2 seconds slower than Seth at Mid-O than grapple with other sweaty men. I'm just saying....

Of course as I watch the video again I am thinking those Gladiators you were up against were much more powerful than you, and you were able to beat them with your quick rotation moves and force.
So torque is more important than power.

Ok Mark, since you have had so many wonderful examples to show your point how about this one ?

http://www.opb.org/programs/ofg/vide...ic-Drag-Racing

The Corvette and the M3 for sure have more hp than the little Datsun, although the Datsun wins for sure in the torque department. Oh, and it also wins the races too.

Be sure to let me know what you think ?

Should we also discuss the torque multipling transmissions / differentials they both have ?
