Default The Most Dangerous Event

Not to pass judgement on good or bad, but wondering what might be the single most dangerous event in all of motorsport. I'm thinking the Isle of Man TT. Any thoughts?

Not sure what that is but I thought the life span of the racers in the Red Bull airplane races around the world was the shortest...

TT, every year there are unfortunately at least a couple of deaths, on the mountain they are hitting 190 which is insane!

I vote for Isle of Man...high speed thru all kinds of streets/roads with no barriers. Curbs, light poles, store fronts, parked cars, etc. tend to hurt when you are a human missle.

Statistics I found.

Isle of Man 180 deaths in 100 years, almost 2 per year. 1.80

Dakar 47 deaths in 27 years, almost 2 per year. 1.74

Pretty close between the two though.

There are barriers, they are just made out of stone. Isle of Man TT is nuts. Anyone know if Speed still play it?

I've been told that some GP / Superbike rider contracts proscribe racing there.

One motorcycle racer died in the 2009 Dakar Rally in South America.

Okay, not sure what your saying. I did not say 2 must die per year, just that has been the average. I guess since it's 1.74, so the extra racer has until end of the year to keel over.

Isle of man looks much more dangerous to me.

In F1 racing, they always talk about how dangerous it is to drive a F1 car in the rain. But, I can't think of any GP driver that has been killed in the rain. It just looks more dangerous, and scared some of the drivers silly. I agree that Isle of Man, it not only looks dangerous, it is.

By the way, correct me if I am wrong about rain driving in F1.

I disagree with all of you. The most dangerous car related event is a time and distance rally with your wife as navigator. It may not always be fatal, but the cost of the divorce is very very painful.
