Huh? I didn't see that in the proposed/adopted rule changes. Did it just come to be announced this past weekend?
I would really like to hear more about it since there was no PCA CR update through snail mail or email.

It was announced at one of the driver's meetings by Bruce this weekend. In the case where it is a SINGLE CAR incident AND it is deemed to be a minor issue having resulted in damage, the driver will not get a 13/13.
So, for example, if you are cornering and make a slight over-correction that results in contact, the driver probably won't get a 13/13.
It saved a few people this weekend!!!!

Hopefully they'll roll this out at other races this year. Kudos to PCA...it's a great idea. Dinging your car during a single car incident is pain enough. You shouldn't have to go home too.

I believe it was effective Friday, Feb. 6 (day one of Sebring) and will go all year. It's a one year test where they'll gather data and compare it to previous years and then make a decision for the future. I applaud them as well. Kudos the the club racing staff.

Yeah,
Long over due. I had friend who back in 2001 in his first PCA club race in the first session went off and tapped a tire barrier. Yeah he mess up and was probably over excited. Stupid to push right away, but the damage was a 1 or 2" dent in the rear qtr and some white paint from the tires. Embarrising to say the least, but the ended his weekend before it even began. He was so upset he never raced PCA again.

So, if a driver makes a single car error, will they give a pass to any damage or just minor damage?

This sounds very, very smart.

Good move. Having worked Tech at more than a few club races I always though that the single car minor no rub off dinger 13 did not supress rash driving as intended.

I agree. I never understood why you get punished twice for a single vehicle incident.
on the other side of the fence... while letting the occasional one car incident slide, what do you do about habitual offenders? Someone who frequently ends up off track with minor damage over the course of a weekend (or even over a few consecutive race weekends) is not driving with everyone's safety in mind.
