I have used Goodyear Marathon trailer tires on my trailers and they have served me well. I change trailer tires after they are 5 years old, as time is more the enemy than miles.

Larger and/or wider may rub on the inside or the fenders. Trailers tend to be tight in those areas.

In any case, 10 ply tires are cheap insurance. And as Bull mentioned, change them on schedule. Only problems I have ever had are from road debris (hard to get away from that) or age.

i just bought the trailer last mouth so today I'm checking lug bolt torque and tire pressures the tire pressure on the left side was 35lbs each and tires on the right were 45 lbs each so i pump all up to 50lbs and than i notice bubbles on side walls of the two tires on the left side, i think are large enough to not want to take a chance with and the one on the right front the bubble is very small, and the spare has a plug in it .the trailer is a 2006 but apparently the previous owner had hit a bunch of stuff.

With 15's, your options are limited. On the diesel forum I check occasionally, many have complained about the Goodyears, as they are now produced somewhere other than where they were originally. Most seemed to favor the 10-ply Maxxis trailer tires, so I went with those. Relatively inexpensive, and very well rated.

the maxxis 10 ply i just did a google on them and found some tire forums. the marathon's took low man on the pole with carlie in the middle and the maxxis seem to be top rated. looks like in 15's you can get 6, 8 or 10 ply,so I'll take everyone's advice and go 10 ply D rated, but they mite also come in E rated i call tomorrow to find out.
thanks and as always, get great feedback from the rennlist family.

also i saw some mention of michilens XP rib real truck tires.

I own a trailer shop and we sell enclosed trailers among other things.

Goodyear Marathons are expensive for what they are. Maxxis are great tires - cheaper and better quality IMO. Some people only want Goodyear so we carry both. I greatly prefer the Maxxis myself.

Carlisle product quality isn't what it should be. Lots of premature sidewall cracking.

I have a 28' that I am replacing all "D" load tires with "E". Carlisle make them for that same tires size...ST225 75R15. I have had trouble with mine as well.

The guys I run with have all had problems w/ the Carlisle's.
I have the Goodyears on mine and so far (only 2 years) I haven't had any problems. I also keep my trailer in an enclosed garage when not being used so UV degredation isn't a smuch of a problem.
Good suggestion to replacethem on a schedule regardless of mileage.

I was recently informed that Good Year sold the Marathon line and they are being made in China. Since you're in NJ call Freehold Tire and ask for Jody. Ask him about the Maxxis. I just ordered a set of 4. Well priced and very please. This is what was on my trailer last time around.
