Hi Chris (and the others that have sent me PM's)

I have made some good progress on this today as I ended up with a few hours to tinker with making a cable. The schematics that Chatterbox sent us took a while to read but I got the system to work with our standard NASCAR helmet kit and earbuds but it did require change up to a higher output mic on the non-chatterbox side. It is not yet perfect, I am chasing a hum but otherwise it is close, next I with test with the IMSA plug as I know some of you are using them as well. An other option I am kicking around is one that would let you use your Chatterbox mic with your aftermarket molded earbuds.

Thanks, Chris. I'm coming back for the June 26-28 DE at Lightning--let me know if you want another tester.

Chris- I am very interested in your solution. The Chatterbox earpiece converted to a flush mounted earbud is the goal. The mic (in my case with closed helmet) could be detached from the mic boom and just placed with a piece of velcro (or hard mounted permanently) to front of the helmet.

Chirs, I'm coming to that DE as well... likely with a miata. I'm trying to get Kellet and Dimarco there with miatas as well. Hope all is well abroad.

Did you ever toy with this approach? I received my custom molded earbuds and now I'm thinking of cutting the wire running to the chatterbox earpieces and wiring in a female end for the custom buds. Any advise?

Yes, we are just finishing an adaptor for this, it will allow you to use aftermarket earbuds with the chatterbox headset mic, and it is a plug in which your original adapter is unchanged. It will be around $50 and we should have a run of 10 of them done by the end of next week. The NASCAR helmet kit - Chatterbox adaptor is still a few weeks away.

Think I might be able to try it at our DE June 26-28 at Lightning?

Wink

Your first on the list Chris, if I get it done before hand. You would need to put a big Sync Speed, Inc. on the wing of the GT-3 while testing it.

You provide the sticker, I'll provide the wing (as long as this is standalone and does not need the wiring harness to work--I have that in the Miata but not the GT3). If you give me a couple of other stickers I'll photograph them on the Ring car next month.

What was the result of the Chatterbox/custom earpiece solution?

Hi David,

Well, it turns out to not be as easy as i first thought, the power needs of the pro helmet system mic and earpieces asks a lot of the small chatterbox's battery, and I have a hum that I have yet to sort out. We have been moving our office during the past month and this has been sitting in a box right now.
