Default 2009 F1 Season , Testing , News and Updates

Hello Gents, Amigos and Wackypetey

Another season is upon us and since the great Amigo has left the sport , every year just seems to get better and better .

New World Champion Lewis Hamilton has now joined the ranks of both Fernanado Alonso and Kimi Raikonenn, as F1 adds another WDC to it's current list and this new WDC can only go from strength to strength in his quest to repeat ...

A 4 way fight for this years WDC ?

Interesting to see which KR turns up , still i do expect Massa to keep dominating at Ferrari as KR dances to his swan Song and Massa himself moves from strength to strength within the Ferrari team......

Lewis Hamilton is the expected driver to beat this year , the new Mclaren looks chic and he is more than qualified for the job as defending WDC and as young as any of the girls in one of Mtosi Avatar , he can only get better .

2 WDC Fernando Alonso of course will have a lot to say here ,if he has a car and i must say in early testing the Renault looks , well Interesting ...

While there are others favored by some here , realistically the above has got to be the top 4 going into Australia , for now !

Pardon Me Sir A. Wayne.....

Is that an '8' on the nose of Alonso's Renault?

What do those numbers mean?

Renault looks most advanced although Ferrari's (currently illegal) exhaust area is also interesting. Could be that Renault is just different and it sort of looks too "simple".
You never know how well they'll perform by looking but still, looks like they're found something.

Alonso's number is 7, that "nose" is J.R.'s

Just watched some testing video on youtube and the cars don't look quite as bad in action, but it will be interesting to see how many front wings survive the first turn of the first lap in Melbourne... any predictions???
Glad the Rolex 24 is this weekend- I need some racing action! (did get a little fix watching some SCCA racing at PIR while on vacation last weekend in Scottsdale- but that ain't F1!!)

(boy, that Renault wins the ugly contest doesn't it?)

This is good news for the rest of the field :

Ferrari boosted by progress with KERS :

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/72941

Ferrari's hopes of racing with their KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System) at the start of the season have been boosted, with the team's senior engineer suggesting progress with the device is going 'in the best possible way.'

The Maranello-based team openly admitted at the end of last year that they felt they were behind with the progress of their system compared to their rivals - especially BMW Sauber, who are believed to be most advanced with the new technology.

But following some encouraging progress with the device during testing at Mugello in Italy this week, the indications are that the team could be further down the road with it than originally thought.

Just read that too- as an old timer, I'd love to see Williams move back up the grid this year... I like Rosberg (good genes) and the Williams looks pretty good, but I assume that is their testing livery...

Default Ferrari complete Mugello test

By Pablo Elizalde Thursday, January 22nd 2009, 17:43 GMT

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/72947

The Ferrari team on Thursday completed their four-day testing session at the Mugello circuit in Italy.

Felipe Massa took over from teammate Kimi Raikkonen at the wheel of the F60, as the weather finally allowed the team to carry out significant work.

Massa was able to run with dry weather tyres from late in the morning, and the Brazilian covered 103 laps with a best time of 1:23.981.

"I am pleased with the way these past days have gone," said Massa. "Finally today, we were able to test the car in the dry continuously.

"First impressions are positive, even if it is obviously too early to say what level we are at, partly because we had no competitors here to compare ourselves with.

"However, if I was asked to give a verdict on this test, I would score it a strong eight for reliability, given that we have covered over 1500 kilometres.

"It's true a lot of that was in the wet, but given the conditions experienced in Portimao, I think the decision to come to Mugello was the right one."

Here's a little snip from Pat Symonds' interview, we all (OK, Wayne denies always) knew J.R. has a 100% support role to Alonso but Pat confirms it officially:

"His mission will be to continually improve and get into regular points-scoring positions. His role is to back up Fernando in every way he can..."

Nelson, you look like a smart kid. I'm going to tell you something I'm sure you'll understand.

You're having fun now, right? Right, Piquet? ...................The time of your life.

In a sluggish economy, never ever **** with another man's livelihood.

Now, if you're smart, and I hope you are, you're not gonna make me come back here.

I don't think Alonso would allow that though. As bad driver as Wayne is, J.R. has to be even worse.
