If I can't vote for my hooters I'm voting the NT-01. Haven't tried it shaved but I want to

You didn't ask for the fastest, but it is consistent, pretty fast, and lasts a long time.

(I'm personally against MPSC's)

Isn't the A6 way too soft for more than a few laps of road racing?

The RA-1 will last forever and perform the same from day one until they cord which I suspect would be at least 50 heat cycles. The R6 will be faster for the first few heat cycles then will taper off and not last as long as the RA-1. Your car isn't heavy enough for MPSCs to get hot enough to do any good.

Thats what i thought, until the Griggs Racing Nascar powered mustang ran away in 4 races using the A types. (running near mid pack WC times in his first outings in the car) Makes perfect sense that they would be a lot more sticky. maybe the perfect match, as hoosiers usuallly go hard before they wear out anyway. and as long as they can last a 30min race, what the heck. They might have found a second or so just with that unconventional use of the autox tires.

Hey Juan,

I can run Kumho V700 225 x 50 15" all around on my stock 71 911 w/7" rims (they fit!)

Class rules restrict you to 205's?

-I've only run the MPSC and the v700's b/t those I'd pick the V700's. but its just a guess...

Kumho 710 if you want to win, Toyo RA888 are 1-2 sec slower. The Kumho are not a one set for the whole year type tire. We run 7- 225 x 50 all the way around in CVAR. Its become the "spec" tire in our group. Just like Hoosier are in PCA.

Anybody here used BFG R1s? I don't have much to compare to except RA-1s. I can't speak for the life yet as I have only completed 1 DE with them, but they felt better than the Toyos and it showed in laptimes. It's my understanding that they don't last as long as the Toyos but longer than the Hoosiers... Just another option, I know that they were about $25-$30 less a tire than the same sized Hoosier ,V710 or even the Toyo.

I thought about running BFGs this year for DE's as I wasn't completely happy with the R888's last year. My reason was due to them being described as being close in performance to the hoosier but with a little better life.

Sadly these tires didn't really catch on much with the Porsche Crowd. Go search over on Bimmerforums in the track section and there are several guys that run them over there with good success.

From what I can remember, some did not like the break away characteristics of the BFG even compared to a Hoosier. As I remember that was the biggest complaint.

Thanks,
I will check that out for a little better info on tire pressures. At our local track it is only myself and one other guy that are running them so we were comparing notes this weekend. He is running them on his '72 911 and said that on his car the BFGs are actually faster than Hoosiers that he has run. As I said I personally don't have much info yet, only running them for one day, but so far so good. Maybe they don't do so great on heavier cars?

RA1's definitely have a couple of golden laps then they immediately fall off...they also fall off slightly after the first few heat cycles but seem to be very consistent for the rest of their life...

i have tried them (did some testing and a couple of races on them)...they are definitely as fast as hoosiers and hankooks but i personally didnt like the way they felt...i also found them to be inconsistent throughout a race and throughout their lifespan (moreso than hoosiers)...in my experience, they dropped off faster and more than hoosiers in a race. this seemed to get worse with more heat cycles...
