What stirs your soul?
In my case the sound of anything with an aircooled flat 12 or flat 6, Cosworth DFV's, 250's/312's, MFI overrun, twin turbo'd rally cars.....
Anway the point of this thread is to post your favorite racing sounds!
Here are some of mine-
(Quite a few reposts, but they're worth listening to again)
Jaques Laffite Matra 12 Cyl around Monza-
Ferrari Flat 12 hill climb-
Group B Pure sounds-
Ferrari 250TR + Bridge
V8 Vantage (First 15 seconds)
Top gear Lotus 72-(Starts at 4:55 although the whole clip is funny)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DaZExdTHHjY&eurl
Victory by Design 312PB private track in france-
(removed from youtube for some reason)
http://odeo.com/episodes/23225430-Vi...Ferrari-312-PB
Rendezvous-
Patrick Depailler, Long Beach-
Ferrari Shell ad-(especially 50-1:13)

But here's the opening few minutes of the race
Part 1-
Part 2-
Post away!

For just 2.65 liters of displacement, these are my favorite --
Sorry video quality is poor -- The Panasonic car of Tarso Marques is what I was working on that year. Good race up until it done broke

Mike-
This is a '90's stock car at VIR, driven well off the pace.
Don't bother with the whole thing, but let it load and listen to 1:30-1:40.
I don't like them 'merican cars too much but that thing sounds awesome!

MTosi, the Patrick Depailler clip at Long Beach really grabbed my attention. It is exactly what I think Formula 1 should be today -> Unlimited power with no traction control and limited grip (both aerodynamic and tires). This would make F1 more affordable because once you go beyond a certain horsepower for a given chassis design with no traction control and limited grip, the further gains in horsepower really can't be used that much. The aerodynamics should be limited so that the cars can follow closely at all times (whether at high or low speeds). The limited aero grip should also keep the cornering speeds down to reasonably safe levels. The tires should be the type that have relatively long wear and somewhat limited grip so that they require high slip angles to be fast (i.e. power slides everywhere)!!! I think this type of racing would be insanely cool to watch.
