Does anyone know why we have to keep our logbooks in our car in GT classes?
When the GT classes moved from a simple displacement structure to a weight and potential HP formula it becomes more difficult to manage when compliance checking after qualifying or racing. The logbook contains the bore and stroke as well as the minimum weight and these are the parameters that define what class the car is assigned to. Since there are many different combinations of bore, stroke, and weight that one can use to be in a class, the logbook is the guide the Scruts can use. Most car owners don't know the bore and stroke or even the displacement to the cc, so by having the logbook readily available at all times, this alleviates that issue.

At your first race of the year, the annual compliance forms are completed and one copy given to the PCA Scruts and the second copy is stapled in the logbook.

I hope this helps.

As a Scrut, I need to be able to make logbook notes whenever I'm with your car (grid, postrace inspection etc). It's a lot easier if we don't have to go to your truck and find the logbook.

Thanks Geoffrey and West, that makes sense.

If it's not in the car when it's needed do we get a 13 for not following the rule book?
