I use Jongbloed 3 piece wheels. There weights are competitive and they are very strong.

I fixed it for you Charlie.
Actually we both ran them. For light and strong they are the best but a little on the spendy side. I have a set that will fit a 996, 996 GT3 or 996 cup car if anyone in interested. They might fit a 994T with a little fender stretching.

Are the BBS Mags weaker than CCWs? (Do they only work well on racecars? i.e. <2800lbs cars)
... or is it just that BBS are 2X the cost, but certainly not 2X stronger or 2X more durable?

BBS 3 piece mags are no longer being produced for new wheel orders. You have to order the spun aluminum wheel centers which are stronger than the mag wheel centers and about the same price. My opinion is that the BBS wheels are the ones to get for racing and think they will cost less over time.

weight?
Any idea on weight for these wheels. I understand that weight will differ between wheels. I am just trying to get an understanding of what is considered "light" for 18 x 7/8's.

If your going to get new wheels for the car in your avatar you should be thinking wider, more like 8 & 9-10 x 18's

Most of the 951's running up front in stock E/F seem to all be on 18 x 8.5 & 10's which suggests there must have been an optional rim of 7.5 f and 9 r available.

Simmons for a strong 3 piece wheel and Enkeis for a cheaper, light, strong one piece.

I checked with Donna @ PCA and those are the numbers (8 & 9), maybe some folks are skirting the rules. It's hard to determine width without removing the tire.
