From PCA site:

2. (Note change from rule as proposed) Adjust minimum weights for GTB cars to allow 996 and 997 3.4, 3.6 and 3.8 L cars to continue to compete as a single GTB class.
3. GTB: Limit bodywork changes to what is allowed on a GT3 cup. If a wing is used, it must be a GT3 wing or non-extended GT3 Cup wing.
4. GTB: Allow GT3 Cup lower control arms and adjustable rear toe links as well as GT3. (Unintended omission in 2008 Rules.)

This would help with the 996 Spec plan, but we'd have to adopt the GTB rules and Koni Rules. I'm not a fan of allowing Cup bodywork as this can lead to CF or Fiberglass doors.

I"m curious to see the weight for the 3.4l 996. Hopefully 2900#'s or less.

Seems to me like there is a lot you can do in the Super Classes that would drive the cost of the cars up significantly. 996 Spec would keep people from spending bucks on CF doors, floating rotors, etc. Also, don't forget about the value of having a spec tire to keep costs down.

From the 2007 PCA rule book:

Class GTB
Normally aspirated 996 or later 911 model (excluding GT3) production street cars modified beyond the
requirements for “STOCK” or “PREPARED” cars that have an unmodified production engine, transmission
and gears, ECU, and chassis. Suspension components must remain stock except that GT3 lower control arms
and GT3 adjustable rear toe links are allowed. Springs, shocks, and camber plates are free. Other GT
modifications are allowed. Minimum weight for this class shall be 2950 pounds including driver.

Well done to PCA to keep rules fairly stable from 2008. The less classes the better in my opinion.

"Allow removal of sound deadening material"

Would carpet be considered in this?

What's the deal with the PCA's carpet fetish anyway?

9. Allow lightweight flywheels as a prepared change for single as well as dual-mass flywheels.

I guess this means I'm going prepared, since the flywheel in my 968 was changed out for the single mass one.

You're ok. The new rule's key word is "lightweight".

Read the 2008 Rules. Stock rule, 1 (Engine), L: "Any dual mass flywheel may be replaced with a single mass ... flywheel...", "968 may use 944 S2 or 968 Turbo S flywheel.".

No, Dell, you were told that I thought they would likely pass the camber plate rule for 2009 and the rules should be out soon. Obviously I was wrong.

The advisory committee has been discussing the submitted rules since Oct 1 and per the Club Racing Rules schedule for Rules Review and adoption Procedure should be published by Nov 1. That was this weekend while we were in SC.
