Here is the link to the spec boxster rules : http://www.boxsterspecracing.org/hom...on=BSR%20Rules

If he had ballast, it was a maximum of 75 pounds that he was dumping. I'm surprised that these cars can get down to 2650 pounds including driver and they need ballast to do it. God knows that I've been trying to figure out how to dump weight out of my boxster S, and it still weighs in at a hefty 2820 (without driver).

What does an "S" dyno at meeting rules and maximum allowable adds? It would need to fit into a ratio of hp/wght of 11 with driver.

Here's a link to a recent discussion re getting down to 2650.

http://www.boxsterspec.com/index.php?showtopic=1230

I seem to recall other discussions on the same board re getting down the weight, but don't have a link handy.

I'd be pretty close. I think I'm in 270-275HP range, which puts me at about a 11.05 ratio.

As John previously stated we're on R888's unfortunately....

Next year we're lobbying to go to 245's on 8-1/2" rims up front versus the 225's on 7's we currently use. I've tested them and they're good for 2 seconds a lap at BW and WSIR...

You can check with Mylaps for the Summit Nasa Oct race and ask him how much ballast he was under (Steve Kwait).
Bob the current minimum weight w/driver is 2700. Next year it will be 2650. Either way the cars have no more than 180 RWHP (201 flywheel) which places it comfortably in the GTS2 class (2700/180= 15). Next year it will be borderline at 2650/180 = 14.72....

Next year with our lighter weight and bigger front rims and tires I believe the Spec Boxster would be unbeatable in GTS2. Now if they only ran the series out West....

Classification With Non-D.O.T. Race Tires
GTS5 = 6.0 – 8.49
GTS4 = 8.5 – 10.99
GTS3 = 11.0 – 14.49
GTS2 = 14.50 – 18.49
GTS1 = 18.50 and higher

Ha! You honestly think a 'stock boxster' will be the car to have in a hp/weight based class?

I need to consider this approach. I am running GTS3 right now and even when my car is healthy it tips the scale at 3120 with me and almost no fuel! It needs a big diet to run NASA and give up on PCA.

I'm extremely surprised that the old 986 Boxster (I had one of those) is this fast.

I know how much faster the slicks are compared to A6/R6/R1/V710 and these ones against MPSC/R1/V700/R888, etc.

The 986 Boxster with that lack of power (something it doesn't have, not even the S) must be killing everything on the turns.

I ran 1:52 at Cal Speedway on RA-1 (first time at the track) with my 996 GT3. I always kept in mind a 3 secs gap per 60 secs of track time (on 18" Hoosiers) compared to a well driven 996 GT3 Cup on slicks. This difference was around 5 secs when the car was stock on the same tires (Hoosier). At Cal Speedway with better grip from Hoosiers and more seat time, I think I could run 1:50s with my old modified 996 GT3, 6 seconds behind John in his Cup.

My 996 GT3 was well prepared, and far from stock. A stock 996 GT3 on R888 could run no better than 1:54s at Cal Speedway (on average not so fast hands). This is just 5 secs behind John's time on the same tires on a track that rewards horsepower, and John is running with 1/2 the power of a stock 996 GT3.

At Laguna Seca, my best time (my only track day there) was a 1:42 on Toyo RA-1. That's barely 3 secs faster than John's Spec Cayman Cabriolet.

I'm extremely surprised...

Hey, if a stock D car can push a well prepared G car around a short track like Summit (with equal drivers) then I think a stock Boxster can beat a 996 Cup... but maybe i'm confused...

But that being said there are a couple guys here that run in the 1:37-1:38's consistently with near stock 6 GT3's on MPSC at LS. And i'm not sure if 1 days experience is a fair representation of what you and your previous car were cable of.

Please allow me to be the first to say BULL ****!....

POC's track record for a 996-GT3 w/MPSC's is 1:42.1 and that driver also runs a 6-cup in the high 1:33's. Of course we're also limited to 92 DBA...
