Default Koni Challenge 997 - 3.6

Teams are running 997 3.6 in Grand Sport class. I wonder how these motors are holding up with all the problems they have had espeicially regarding oiling etc. Rules allow an Accusump and mods to pan and baffles but those are only bandaids.

Anyone here run a 997 with PCA, PBOC, etc? How are you doing with it.?

Koni has been running these motors for a few years now, even if you need to replace the motor it still cost less than rebuild on older motor. The teams would pay less than 10k for a complete motor filled with oil and new plugs

I think they normally put in a new engine every year and it should hold up ok, near stock they should be reliable.

I'll be at VIR back in the orange BGB car, maybe with a famous/fast co-drover again, see you there!

One engine per year? There doesn't appear to be an oiling problem with the M96/97 motor.

Good luck guys. Have a fun and safe event.

Yes! I had the pleasure of co-driving with Dahk Vahna at Lime Rock. Check my website for a good writeup of that race with more pictures.

Good luck in the Miata!
