My new home track, Alastaro circuit (Video)
Guys,
I wanted to introduce my new home track, Alastaro circuit in Virttaa, Southwestern part of Finland.
The track is situated literally in the middle of nowhere, thus there are no sound level restrictions etc.
It is a 3km long track with 10 turns and good run-off areas.
The best part is that one can buy a season ticket which lets you in on the free practise sessions, essentially every single day when the track is not rented out by someone. The season ticket only costs 330 Euro, I call that bang for the buck.
Here's a video of my second time at the track. I was running Toyo R888's but my fronts were too narrow resulting in understeer which I tried to fight and would eventually allways get oversteer (as you can see in the video).
The other cars on the track are Endurance racers (entry level racing), they were practising for Sunday's race.

I thought everyone gave up smoking in Finland during the 1970s - after taking its cue from Sweden... surprising to see that starter puffing away...
BTW - what is the season for track in Finland? Do they close down for the winter? How about the summer - are cars using it 24 hours in the light?
And it does look like a nice track -- wide and lots of runoff.... trees are a bit scary... sort of reminds me of Roebling because of the flatness... nice...

Awesome! No point-by's required, basically free to drive (yet they give you room) etc. what's not to like?
What's with the rolled gloves man? Left over from Sebring days?
(it didn't look that warm based on that "track marshall's attire)...

At times there were 20-30 race cars on the track and I was the only street car there. I was able to out take them allways at braking zones. Lot of fun to go 5 deep into the hairpin and hope that the car would turn in and not hit the other four cars.
It was cold as ****, that's what's with the santa mitts. Rolled, they've become my trademark too...
Petu, the best part is; next year I will be RACING!!
