Looks like Grp 1 races at 2:20. Clear sky.

I'll be there with some friends to support the Porsches and Mark of course.

Any idea why the Mustang pulled off track from the pace lap?

During the initial full course caution when Mickey in the other mustang spun into the gravel, the Griggs Racing mustang had passed some lapped cars under at of the yellows he didnt see until he was passed it. Someone on his radio told him that the officials caught him, so he just came in before the last lap.
I dont think he knew he could have just have let the passed car get his position back and it might have been ok. He checked out anyway, running near 1:34.1.
I'll I knew is that I got some gifts through traffic on the re-start, and got by the S2000 for 2nd. Little did I know of the Mustang passing under yellow.

It was great seeing all the porsches down here . A good group of guys and some pretty impressive, and well built 911s.

Here are some pics.
Miki's car after the mustang crash at sears. a whole new front clip in 2 weeks!!
talk about rain.... How about the Laguna paddock lake!
qualifying line up in the early am
some on track racing, on slicks..... not fun, but it was kind of fun actually!
who's trailer is this on the way home??? (drove the race car home as usual with all the 3 days worth of gear, and another full set of tires! )

Thanks for the pictures, Mark. The Group 1 race was a hoot to watch from T11. I never saw so many cars going 2 and 3 wide coming into that corner.

Eric, are you the POC racer I talked to in front of our NW Porsche paddock(I was in the orange #67 911 with blue numbers)? Yeah, that race was wild. I went through T11 3 wide. I was in 5th going into the restart, but lost several positions because I didn't realize that the course was hot going into 11. I eventually moved back up to 6th. The restart felt like a nascar race with a bunch of miatas thrown in as slow moving obstacles. I definitely learned a lot from that one. I had at least 3 cars spin in front of me on the lap of the restart. Too bad my video camera didn't work for that race. I would love to look back at it.

I'm bummed the GoPro rear cam didnt work due to a flash card issue, but the main video turned out pretty good. I had to do the "rylan comments" on this video.

Here is my in car video for the Laguna race:

Mark, thanks for posting the videos. I watched the SP and ITE races from the front straight and at T11. My eyes popped out when I saw cars going 3 wide going into the braking zone for T11 and when the spec 911 spun on the exit of T11 in front of the leaders. The amazing thing was that nobody made contact with him or each other.

Darrin, I don't race with SCCA. I hung out at the Rothsports "compound" before the race. I've spent allot of time with Steve Weiner on the phone so I am well aware of your car's capabilities. They are really nice machines!. My car is an in-betweener right now. Not enough motor for PRC/PCA GT3/GTL and too many mods for PRC GTS. I've decided to build it to PRC GTL spec, which means that I will need to go on a diet and save money for a 3.6L motor. Will you be at Sears Point at the end of this month?

Holy bleep you have some tall gears. You only used 3 gears the entire race...

actually, its not that they are tall (But i do have a tall 5th that i can never use in race conditions, as 155mph or faster) but the gear spacing is wide. (72%rpm drop) If you look at the S2000 video, our shift points are near the same speeds. However, he does run into a lower gear for a second after turn 11, and i elect to take it in my 2nd gear, however, Ive taken it in 1st before which lasts to the middle of the right hand birms, (about 1.5 seconds) gets me into 2nd, 3rd, and then near the high rpm range of 4th down the straight and then down to 2nd for turn 2. But yes, 2nd through 4th are the only gears i use.
Now if you look at the BMW incar videos , you will see that they use 3rd through 5th with gears near the same spacing as well as the same speed vs shiift points. I think the only car with close ratio gears would be the Cup Car or the S2000.

I was able to run in an enduro last year in 1 gear. It was very relaxing (but no fun) to not ever have to shift!

Before the new motor, when i was taking the engine to redline on most all shifts, you can see that i could run laguna almost the entire lap in one gear, 3rd. 2nd at turn11, turn 2 and the corkscrew and a brief hit to 4th down the main straight. nice for the gear box! Here is that lap before new motor went in.
