That is the only turn on that track that I don't attack aggressively. I had a scare at the first CR on 3.1 and I’m still a little ginger through there. Check this out, both sides can be dangerous:

Dave, the kid wasn't hurt. If he was, that would be a different story.

From my view, start around 2:30

VR- if you hit the apex you better have your wheels straight and or amazing rally skills. in a miata or an m3 it's not so bad to hit the apex but in a 911 it's a lot better to take a nice smooth arc around that portion with a pretty late apex.
either way it's a section of the track where you've got to anticipate the inherent evil of a rear engined car

I haven't driven out there since last Memorial Day's club race in the Cup but I remember you wanted to be ON that apex if you were haulin' the mail. Sounds like it may be a lot rougher now so you might have to adjust some but if you were going to displace it you would have to make an equal adjustment in velocity or you would be asking for trouble.

even 3 ft is too much to displace that turn. i agree with VR, i want to be right on that apex otherwise I'll be way off the track at track out.
btw, this is the same turn that an E46 M3 went up over the tirebarrier at track out at a BMWCCA event about 2 years ago.

Joesph,
I was about to ask that question as I remember that incident. Very bad for a brand new car supplied by the dealer in Fort Worth as a demo. There was tens of thousands of dollars of damage done.

One of my friends (a fellow instructor) was at the wheel of that car.

Yes, if you displace to avoid the rough patch you MUST adjust entry speed. Like I said, until the track is fixed, a couple tenths is a small price to pay compared with the alternative.....
