I will be on thunderdust this weekend. But with the rain slated for saturday it shouldn't be too bad. I was all over most of the track on Sunday with the exception of T6 and didn't notice any breaking up of the surface. But frankly was a little surprised that there was not more problems with the new surface and how hard it was used.
See you there.

Ahem!...with heavy rain expected this weekend the Thunderdust will certainly go away but watchout for the wet mudslides should one decide to take an off track excursion.

Mostly sunny and 86 Friday, mostly sunny and 88 Sunday. Saturday is a 60% chance of rain. Bobby is Mr. Doom and Gloom for any event that he isn't attending!

Spent yesterday on Lightning. NJMP is patching both tracks where the pavement has come up a bit from heavy use. I did not see Thunderbolt but on Lightning Joe Volpe noted in the drivers meeting that they had just patched the apex of T5 (90 degree left). When we got out on the track there were cones blocking off the patched section, but by Noon we were running on it. Joe said they used a Rhino product that was supposed to be the real deal. By the end of the day I was running over the patch and could not feel any difference in grip. Sunny conditions in the upper 90s. Wet track may be different.
I just wonder if there is any real alternative to concrete patches. Look a the big new and slippery (when I was there in the wet) concrete patches in the Esses at Watkins Glen....
