You gotta give the team some credit for this trick,...sometimes it's the simplest ideas that are the most brilliant. I wonder how long they've been doing it.
No, they built engines that were not within parameters of NASCAR, DW had a similar issue last yr in the 55 car with illegal engine mods. NASCAR is just trying to level the playing field, and JGR(and all the others) are just pushing the envelope to the max, I would too. Dodge is pushing NASCAR hard to get the Hemi legalized once again, if that happens, watch out!
Cheating in NASCAR: nothing new.
Mid season rule changes to "even the field": nothing new.
This can be said of most racing groups not just NASCAR.
If Toyota built a motor that is out of legal spec and it is known to be so why are they getting away with it? That's an easy bust. Sounds more like they built a better motor within the spec and the other makers (Ford was one mentioned in another story) don't want to respond in kind right now due to costs.
With the financial crisis the "big 3" are in it'll be interesting to see if they come back next year or not. Especially Chrysler which is in the throes of a severe cash flow crunch from its new parent.
