It's a sad day indeed. I've followed Newman since the Datsun era. What a class act...

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. Classy what LRP did for Mr. Newman. I wish him, his family and friends all the comfort in the world during this time. I never got to meet him but I have followed him through his racing and you know he makes some awesome salad dressing and cookies! Mr Newman did it right, lived right and to the fullest it always seemed to me. Mr. Newman has given back more than all of us will know. I am very sad to hear Mr. Newman is leaving us soon....to soon!

Good on ya Paul. I don't feel sorry at all. You live 83 very adventurous years. I can only hope I enjoy the same.
Thank you for your contributions to racing and food. May your next ride be your best yet.

Fantastic person, had the pleasure to meet he and his wife at Summit Point in the '70's. Even though I was a young kid he treated me as a peer. Invited me to share an Olympia with him after the B Sedan race. True gentleman.

I had the privelege to hang out with Paul when I was a bus boy, a mere 17 years old, at the Interlaken Inn in Lakeville CT. He was having breakfast while there for a race. He was the last one in the breakfast room and was watching Wimbledon. I was an avid tennis player so he invited me to sit and watch with him. He had a bunch of questions about the sport and we just hung drinking orange juice. I'll never forget it. If I remember correctly it was a Borg McEnroe match.

He filmed "Rachel Rachel" at my Kindergarten school here in Bethel, CT. My mommy asked me if I wanted to be in a movie and I said no way (regretfully). But he did show up to the set in his old VW-Porsche Beetle

I saw him race at last year's New York Region NAARC Runoffs at Lime Rock. He won his class and the
crowd went nuts. It was a special day that took my mind off the heart operation that I would be
having three days later. Thanks for the memories Paul.

I lived on East Avenue In New Canaan Ct from about 76' to 78' and I rememebr me and my brother would always be on the lookout for any Bob Sharp Z- cars. At the time we were about 10-12 years old and those Z-cars with the Bob Sharp livery were around fairly often and a BIG deal to us. The rumor was the Neuman and the Bob Sharp race guys frequented the Pizza place a 1/2 mile down the road at the entrance to the town. I don't know if that was the reason, but to me and my brother, Neuman was in every car, every time
What a terrific man...so much NOT the Hollywood type.

When I was racing in the early 70's, we were were testing our then new March F-Atlantic
car at Lime Rock on an open test day. It had been raining and the paddock was a mess (not paved then).
The Bob Sharp Racing tractor-trailer got stock in the grass. The whole crew was helping to get it out of the mud, P.N. among them.

I grew up in Wilton, CT, near Westport. Paul used to contribute to my father's charity (my dad was a minister) and even attended our church a couple of times with another bloke named Dave Brubeck (probably none of you know of him). I used to work for Bob Sharp Datson at LRP as a teenager, then met Paul again in 1995 at the 24 hrs of Daytona. Sorry for all of the personal stuff and name dropping...I just can't believe the world will be better without him. There are very few of that kind of man left...
