They are running about 300 a wheel at Vivid Racing, Discount Tire, etc. They are not a bad lloking wheel, and as a track wheel they are working fairly good for me.

I have not seen these before, but that seems a very good price for a reasonably light wheel. Do you have any pics of the 18" wheels mounted on your 944. Any issues with rubbing?

Hi Van, My thought behind 17" was that tires are significantly cheeper than 18". Is there real world improvement in 18 vs 17"?

I am running 245's in front and 295's in back without any body rub. Mind you it is a tight fit. I did have to modify the air baffle to the front brakes as they did rub there. This is my track car so it is run hard, and I do have coilovers with some pretty hefty springs on all four corners so there is not much roll. I will get the particulars on the wheels for you tomorrow.

Lots of BMW's and EVO's run these wheels, could be an affordable option if you can find them in the right size/offset/bolt pattern. Evosport is a BMW shop on the west coast that sells them, they have set up several racecars and could probably help you with sizing options..

The CCW classics are good wheels too, we have a couple of sets. Forgeline is another very nice option and porsche club sponsor but they cost a bit more.

Chin event, you find everything out there!! This guy had a hemi and actually thought he was "fast", he was about half a lap ahead of me when I came out of the pits, this was a pic as I passed him, wasnt really much of a deal but I guess in the pic it looks like I was pushing it but not really even had a passenger.

I haven't run 17s... but I did go from 16s to 18s. The crispness of feel from the reduced sidewall is amazing - it feels like a different car when I turn in and through the corners. It's like the steering feed back has been amplified - in a good way!

I also think that the shorter sidewalls make the shocks work harder (since the sidewalls on an 18 don't flex like the sidewalls on a 16), and you want the shocks to work harder - that's why you have them... because they are designed to move and absorb undulations in the road. A sidewall flexing is an undamped spring.

I also don't think 18" tires are THAT much more than 17" ones... I just checked on tire rack - it makes a set of track tires cost $1100 instead of $1000. In my opinion, the performance gain is greater than the 10% tire cost increase.

Enkei NT03 are the wheels that I presently have.

Front: 18" x 8-1/2" w/ offset of 50
Back: 18" x 10" w/ offset of 60

Unfortunately I do not have a picture of them on my car. But SpeedBump's pictures give you a pretty good idea. Mine also came with a life time warranty, so if they crack...

Good luck with your decision there are some good looking wheels out there that look really nice on the 944s. Let us know what you end up with.

I have CCW 18s but be warned - the finishing on the rear is so raw that I sliced open two fingers just picking up a wheel by the spokes without gloves. Still, they are around 7 lbs per wheel lighter than the comparable stock Porsche wheel, which is a lot.

Don't worry... your 16s will be good for rain tires! That what a lot of people do.
