I'd hate to see how that cage holds up after 5 years of UV exposure. You know that anyone who has one won't paint it, he'll want to show it off.

I think that technology has addressed the UV exposure. have you seen the new M3? CF roof, and its going to be as durable as it gets.

It would be nice to pull out 75lbs out of my car!!!

I bet it costs $6k

I'd be concerned too about multiple impact incidents. Once the cage is compromised would it sustain another hit?

I guess one way to look at is... it's better than nothing. It's likely no replacement for a steel cage, but if someone's in a position where it's this or nothing, then they're probably better off with this.

That is assuming that the cage doesn't shatter upon impact and impale them...

Only thing is that carbon doesn't do a great job of crumpling. It usually holds well until its failure point, and then splinters apart. Now the ad does say that they use "anti-splinter" carbon ...

That 'anti-splinter' carbon is some neat stuff, it just shatters into pefectly round pieces instead of sharp splinters, much safer!
