Your video of the red 993 that either gives no pass or drag races you when they do (and Paolo's chase cam) put me over the edge, bought an Aiptek A-HD+ 1080P on Amazon for $145, remote, car charger for the wire hack, and even got a nice MOV converter online (converts MOV to any format you want)..

Its pretty classic. I shoot a few out too as my tuner made the high end a little rich which is in some ways a good thing as the fuel acts as a coolant. At high revs when you shift there's a lot of unburnt fuel that ultimate pops out the exhaust when the revs drop. Fortunately with an autronic we can tune this out someday when I can afford a little more dyno time. I'm sure with the stock ecu its a bit more difficult to get right without compromising in other areas.

A short vid of Jay and Noel in the esses at WGI. The thing that impresses me is just how long that back straight is. Even at 115 or so it takes a long time to get to the inner loop. ETA on the vid is around two hours from now.

Jay and Noel

Gary,
Nice seeing you at the Glen. Got a question about your Aiptek. Is that the one you used at Watkins Glen? Is the remote extra or included with the cam? Are you happy with it?
Thanks.
George

Hi George -

I had a Sony Handycam (DV tape) in my car with a wide angle, which not only took crappy video by skipping and looking washed out but the wide angle tried to rip the lens end of the camera off! It's done (with car duty anyway) and I (today) bought the Aiptek A-HD+ 1080P for $149.99 on Amazon . The video BostonDMD (Paolo) put up following me was with an Aiptek HD 720P. The difference is I can record at 1440 x 1080 H.264 Video @30fps or 1280 x 720 H.264 Video @60fps. The 720P is limited to 1280x720@30FPS, which is just fine.. The remote is $10 from Aiptek and the cig. lighter adapter (which has to be hacked into the AC adapter wire and used in the car) is $15... I also got a Transcend 16GB SDHC CARD card to go with it, good for 4 hours of video at the highest resolution, on Amazon for $57. I think the video quality is excellent for the price..

Gary,
Nice. I'm gonna look into it.
What are you using for lap timing?
I'm considering a Starlane Athon GPS model.
Any comments or thoughts?
