Tony,
I know that R model, too. Now it's getting close with more accepted units.
Tell me... did you install any other sensors with your IQ3, or is it just stand alone?

Here's some more info - Athon GPS R Lap Timer
Its a GPS-based lap timer with RPM and speed for $800.

"This 4 sensor input module allows the IQ3 customer to utilize their own sensors, or the 0-5V inputs from certain ECU systems with the IQ3. Each of the four sensor inputs can be defined by the user as rpm/analog/resistive temperature. The module housing contains an O ring lid and water resistant cable strain reliefs for use in severe environments. Sensors cables are connected to the internal PC board of the module via a terminal strip type connector. Each of the four terminal strip inputs are provided with a shield/ground/signal/5V/12V connection."
With this, you can add four sensors or existing car signals [like throttle position sensor] easily. The alternative is to use the specific VNET sensors, which are more expensive, but are completely 'plug & play'.
There's no question in my mind that throttle position and brake pressure are the two most valuable aids to improving your driving. You'd be surprised to see how often you think you are flat on the gas or brake, but you are actually feathering or delaying between the two. It can really help to see this.
You can also go hog wild with chassis setup sensors like shock position, brake temps, etc, but I think these are only of value to pro teams using this data to fine tune setup for particular tracks and conditions.

My best lap of the weekend. This was Sunday morning and sadly not consistent and more sadly far off the magic 2:20. My tires went away for the last two sessions so this was my best. I need to work on braking, lots of time to make up there. T11, 1, 5, 9 and probably others. Need to find 3 1/2 seconds!

What really sucks is it's not on vimeo.

A short vid of Jay and Noel in the esses at WGI. The thing that impresses me is just how long that back straight is. Even at 115 or so it takes a long time to get to the inner loop. ETA on the vid is around two hours from now.
