Hey, how'd you sneak out a picture of my money counting room!

Funny to check in a day later and see myself quoted three posts in a row. Record for me, that's for sure!

Didn't doubt at all reading of the NASA event coming soon.

Off to pack so I can leave in the pre-dawn tomorrow to go to my little serf-level garage at Thunderhill, and work on cars so I have something to drive on Friday.

Where? Never see mine beyond our state's lovely borders. Probably not outside of the track property the way fuel prices are.

NASA "MAY" have a date there, nothing is finalized and club rental decisions are being revisited at the moment. The other point not mentioned in the thread is that the $44m racetrack investment is fully funded and unlike Lime Rock Park Club, they do not NEED memberships to pay for the completion of the track. I would be very surprised if they were negotiating membership fees at this point. In fact, it is just the opposite, I believe the initial membership fee has gone from $100k to $125k.

We can only hope that Geoffrey's region and CVR get their "potential" dates signed so that we can have a few DE days on what looks to be a fantastic course(s). Geoff any update on your dates?

I drove the track this weekend. It, the people, and the property are fantastic. If I had the coin, I would be in.

Looks to be fantastic. I wish them both luck and that they allow PCA DE's.

I went took a rally there with some ferrari guys a couple of weeks ago. I didn't get to drive the track, but I had an equally pleasurable experience being driven at speed by one of its instructors, Anthony Lazarro. Tony Funicello was there as well (whom I know from Trackmasters), as was Bill McMichael one of the founders. The track itself is thrilling, makes NJMP look like a snore. Memberships are trickling in, and ppl are paying top dollar to join, many of the people who are paying to join are unaffected by forking over 125K, hedge fund/private equity $$ where many of the people mave multi million dollar car collections alone. I would say that its hard to generalize the members I met in any one category but they are all car guys with a serious passion (can't fault 'em for that). Tony mentioned that most are not top of the food chain DE guys or racers, but it gives their talented staf of instructors a lot to work with. At the moment they seem pretty set on not having DE's and sanctioned races there as they are all about providing their membership value for their dollars. Once they reach 350 members, the members will be able to trade them on the open market, which may even go up - who knows 125 could be a bargain. Bottom line the place is very impressive, especially the track. As far as local new tracks and new track design are concerned, it makes lime rock seem trite, njmp seem boring, and alpine seem like an afterthought. I wrote a litte review of my experience...

I got to drive at Monticello a few weeks ago in my Viper and the track is fabulous. The only thing it does not seem to have are really fast scary turns like the downhill at Lime Rock or the last turn at Road Atlanta. But I don't think those sorts of turns would be desireable at a "club". It has a super high speed straight with a kink in the middle, and at the end is an awesome tight uphill turn leading into a very tight S turn which is very technical and very satisfying when you do it right. And if you screw up you don't hurt your car, just your ego.

I hope I will be able to drive there again in one of the Porsches. Many of us are considering membership but it's tough to pull the trigger when you are a working stiff and every track dollar counts.

If I had the coin it would definitely be cool.

Even if just to sit back, have a beer and watch Seinfeld play with his toys.
