Why is the painless one better? You mean less expensive?
The cost of the Cartek one is $277.21 for the model thats roughly comparable to the painless config. But it appears to be a bit superior to the Painless one based on weight, continuous amps, overload protection, alternator cut, and the fact that it's solid state and not solenoid.

Larry (or anyone else owning one of these switches):
Once upon a time, I had downloaded the details installation instructions but sadly, can't seem to find that file now. Does anyone have detailed installation instructions for the device from the now-defunct batterycutoff.com? Anyone care to share whether they've done an install of this device in an older (74 model) 911? Just looking for some confirmation and assistance as I have one of these sitting in my garage awaiting its time for installation. Thanks!

Ahem...LOL...just sayin....but those are just Ford starter relays...$15 bucks or so at any auto parts store...
Google "Ford starter relay" or "Ford starter solenoid".
Even used one as a replacement on a mid-70's Ducati.

Hey Prof.......
Does the Ford solenoid have two extra contacts for Alternator and Coil cutoff?
Without that, most of our cars will just keep running after the battery is disconnected.
More of a wound switch than a kill switch, eh?

I went ahead and got Cartek isolator to test out. I installed it into the SPBOX with a new Braille battery. No they are not cheap, however, I am very happy with the unit..it's very high quality works very nice. I used our bench power supply and tried to trick it in various ways, but it worked perfect.
So we decided to become a dealer, and we offer them in our online store.
I mounted it up and used some DTM connectors to extend the switches to the dash and front cowl cover for the exterior cutoff. Fabbed up some battery gauge cables and covered with Raychem DR25. Pretty happy with how these units can be used, pretty flexible. Offers a nice clean install.

Does anyone have this Switch on their Car, right now.?
We fried the Jumper wire that connects the to small terminals.
Need to find out what the resistance is, so we can go get another one.
