Franck Montagny : "We can still improve... you never know what Audi is up to."

Wednesday 11 June 2008 - 23h58

# 8 Peugeot Sport Total - 908

Franck Montagny, second fastest in the first qualifying session of Wednesday says: “We can still improve”.

Frank Montagny only failed by two tenth of a second to ****** the fastet lap from Stephane Sarrazin, already poleman 2007. The new track record for the 13.629km thus still stands for the #9 Peugeot 908 Hdi FAP at nearly 247 km/h. Here is what he tells us concerning the car he will share with Ricardo Zonta and Christian Klien during the race.

“I think that the current limit for us is around 3:16, my fastest lap was not entirely clear, and we could certainly optimize the tyre configuration, but track conditions were really very good, and the car was very well balanced. You never know what Audi is up to, so we continue to work towards the race.”

Congo, great post - thanks.

I am looking at qualifying times and see that Peugeot # 7 is 2 seconds off the pace set by #8. Gene and Minassian, the lead drivers of #7, lead in the Lemans series with 2 wins, one of which with Villeneuve as third driver at SPA. Have they adopted a different set up for the race or is this the result of the #7 car being destroyed on June 1st by Gene and then rebuilt? Regardless, I pick #7 as the overall winner based on their results this year. Either Long and team or the Lizards should win GT2. No clue about LMP2. No interest in GT1.

Can't wait to watch tomorrow and Sunday
