Default SCCA ITE RACES at Thunderhill May 24/25

Here is the in-car from the ITE group 1 races at thunderhill last weekend. Now i know what you east coast guys go through. nothing worse than it starting to rain on grid! (unless you are a small light car, then its )

First 2 races were pretty wet, last race, my main camera ran out of batteries, but the rear cam was working.

Pretty interesting field. 2 panos, 2 comp coupe vipers, viper GTS, RX7, supercharged S2000, C5 vet, 928s, 911s, 500hp mustang and camaro, and 30 other cars. The weather was about as diverse as the field over the weekend.

Here are some highlight shots:

Rylan posted that over on PDC. Pretty funny in some spots. Too funny to see one of my old cars and my sub-tenant for the weekend getting together (picture 6).

What is PDC? Oh boy.......... Think of Rennlist in an email list format, 50%+ Off Topic, and the rest equally split between racing/track stuff and general car content in a local, mostly Bay Area, BMW centric format. I attempt to give Porsche a positive input. Unsuccessfully most of the time.........

~300 guys and a few girls, 100+ posts daily.

And we do private track days, no run groups and open passing.

Can you post a link to the video Rylan posted? I'd like to see what he captured during the races. Thanks

He has been kind of weak with the video reports. I think what he posted, was my video. I like his little naratives. Pretty entertaining!

Fun to watch the guy in the little RX-7 embarrassing everyone else.

Its pretty funny how things change when the surface is wet. He ended up winning the 2 wet races and ran like he always does, in the dry race where we all ended up where we usually do based on times. He runs about 1 second faster than anyone in the wet, and about 2 seconds slower in the dry, but still strong in the short sections. I thougth it was very cool to see him beat such a powerhouse field of hardware. I know he was pretty happy about it. The cornerworkers voted him "Driver of the weekend" out of the 300+ drivers in this event! Seriously, i would pay money to help put him in a Speed touring car in a rain race! This guy is a nut too. He ran 18 hours straight in the thunderhill 25 hours! (then, came back and ran the last 3 hours as well!)

Here is a picture of the size difference of the RX7 vs normal cars. Also, he did have an engine transplant from a pretty hot GT3 version. I can only imagine how fast this thing would be with a turbo and some aero
