Mounting a chatterbox stereo to my helmet
I recently bought a Chatterbox Stereo headset for a full face helmet from Mark at CDOC. In order to mount it, I would have had to cut away a bunch of helmet lining around the ears of my Bell helmet for each earpiece to fit.
I wasn't comfortable with this, and spoke to Mark and returned it for another "student" set.
Any suggestions about this? Some older helmets allowed you to remove the lining around the ear.......
Thanks

There are recesses for ears, but you can't mount the two earpieces with the velcro provided without cutting away the lining by the ears and attaching them directly to the shell. Helmet is a three year old Bell.

Mine is mounted under the lining (by pulling away the liner from the edge of the helmet). Sound is still fine through the liner.

yep, under the lining, and I used a hot glue gun to reattach it. (quite a bit of glue actually)
I have a chatterbox AND a motorola mike setup. the 2 way radio uses ear pugs though.
( in a simpson sidewinder )

I used little plastic rivits to attach the velcro to the liner. No problems so far.

I used the stereo headset with velcro for a while; man that was dumb. I finally just pulled away the liner a bit, cut out a small piece of foam on each side, then flush-mounted the speakers under the liner. Works GREAT. Don't know why I didn't do it sooner. You never have to worry about the ear pieces shifting around or catching on your ear.

I changed the velcro they came with for the industrial type. I cut so large pieces they almost cover the entire surfaces around the speakers. This allows me to take the unit in and out. Most of the time I have no use for it.
The speaker units fit inside the ear openings and still leave room for my ears. I have a 3 year old Bell also.
The stereo unit is superior for the driver.
