Tracking more than DAS typically provides
I am curious, what are people using to track data beyond the info DAS brings in, for instance tire temps, or HC's? just a notepad? computer? excel? Are you racing or just DE?
I am racing, and use Traqmate DAS with video, and keep notes on setup on paper. But I would like to track HC's, sway settings, tire pressures, tire temps, alignment setup, weather, etc along with my DAS data.
How do pro teams in GrandAm or ALMS do it? They must have bar code readers and all sorts of complicated software right? What tools do they typically use? Anyone know?

LOL... I just use a file folder of setup changes, goes right there in with my tire temps and pressures... important things to include are ambient and track temps, and immediately after session make notes (on the same page) of the results of any changes, or any particular observations of performance (e.g., car was loose in Turn 3, or missing going up the hill, or got held up with traffic on lap 8, etc)... I also try to include those notes in the comments of the DAS system when downloading data too...
I'm racing...

Thanks Vaughan for the reply.
Is everyone really just writing tire temps and such in notebooks? That would surprise me.. I can't imagine thats what ALMS teams do.
Is my question stupid/newbie or what?

Everything I do along those lines goes into a notebook.
I have sheets setup for the days with checklists, temps, pressures, etc.
The teams I crew for do the same thing.

More sophisticated systems (MoTeC) have set up sheets. You build an Excel spreadsheet with the data the system needs (spring rates, etc) but you can put anything else you want in there too. Otherwise teams tend to use either a notebook or spreadsheet.
