I got to listen to a few of Scott's classroom seminars, and I was impressed. Just 30 minutes of talking/discussion gave me ideas of things to work on.

I have used pro instruction in the past and find it very valuable.

The fellow instructors who hired "speed secret" coaches felt they got their money's worth. In my case, never too old to learn.

When you guys have worked with a pro coach, have you had issues or even tried to do this during a DE? Or did you have private track time to work with him?

I've only seen pros available at advanced DEs - usually you buy their time for 30 minute sessions. (An advanced DE is for intermediate and higher skill drivers only.)

What kind of cost was that for the 30 minute sessions? Was it something that you signed up for at the time you signed up for the DE? Did they make a list of drivers to pick from??? how did it work.

Frank, usually you sign up for a coach or a pro when you register for the event. However, sometimes there are a few 30 mintue slots left and you can sign up at the last minute.

I don't know what Scott's rates were at C&S, but 2 years ago I had Kees Nierop and I think it was about $200-ish for a half hour.

I am not affiliated with Speed Secrets, which I understand is a quality organization. However, I do a bunch of coaching (especially of late), usually one-on-one or in small groups of 2 or 3 students. Typically, it works best in an advanced non-instructed DE/open track setting like C&S, and not in a standard DE. In addition, most DE organizations preclude hiring a pro coach during a standard DE, for a variety of legal and other reasons. I usually charge a per-day rate + actual expenses. If I am working with more than 1 student, I will upcharge by 20% per additional student. Typically, with 3 students, I am in the car with one, while the 2nd is resting & analyzing data from our previous session, and the 3rd is running a session on her/his own to work on what we discussed from their data.

YMMV...

I prefer not to do sessions unless we are in an environment like cups and saucers, where we are working towards providing observations with an prioritized objective list for the future. I believe a day at a time in a one on one, is more beneficial to the client (you). We work with you in terms of mental as well as physical.
We are much more of a cerebral approach initially to improve the end results

Sounds as if we have a similar philosophy...
