Default Lexan rear view mirror mounting?

Is there a special adhesive required to mount a stock rear view mirror to a lexan/polycarbonate windshield?

Brant, go to the OG Racing site and get a wide view mirror that mounts to the upper cage cross bar. I went through the same deal. The wide angle mirror is easy to get used to.

Do as Bob says. If you mount a rearview to lexan, it vibrates at speed and you cant see squat.

My lexan windshield bows in and out too much. I wouldn't even try to mount anything to it. Been running an OG Racing sourced Longacre Mirror (17") for several years. I modified the mounts/drops with some aluminum scrap to get it in a position I wanted.

Thanks guys. I'll take a look at mirror mount options for the cage.

I agree - mount it to the cage.

I used the Longacre 17" but didn't like it as much as the AllView mirror. The AllView gives as much visibility side to side with less distortion for the rear. Much better than the stock mirror.

I also prefer the Allview, I got it from CDOC (who happens to be a rennlist sponsor)

Brant

Try Wrigley's. I tried Bubble Yum but I think there was too much sugar in it.

Seriously though, I could not live without the big convex mirror hanging from my cage. My window bows and shakes when I get above 130 or so. Freaked me out the first few times down the back straight at MO. I thought it was coming in on me.

John, I got lucky on this issue. I ordered a DAS lexan before the VIR race in March. They suggested going up in thickness 1/8", adds only a couple ounces but no noise above 140mph on the back straight. Cost was 75.00 more though.
