Default Starting a new Spec Boxster build.....

The is past weekend we started another Boxster Spec conversion for a friend of ours who just bought a very nice 1998 donor car. 69K on the clock, original everything and the car has been garaged and well kept. Supposedly never driven much in the rain and I believe it. We could not find any dirt or mud on the bottom of the car for this age of car. When we pulled off the nose to clean out the radiators, there was absolutely no debris evident.

The car will be a BSX car for the rest of 2008. This winter it will get the full BSR treatment. We are waiting for the new PSS10's to start shipping, but we decided to put on the GT3/Tarett AR bars, install harnesses and seats and give it the max performance alignment that a stocker can have. We also weighed the car as a baseline.

Andrew Forrest is the owner and the PCA-GGR Time Trial Chair. He will will taking the car out for it's maiden DE in 2 weeks at Thunderhill. Special thanks to the Spec Boxster build team:

Andrew Forrest
Ken Jones
Randal Barrick
Rob Ways
Doris Pickering

Here's a few pics of the progress. Everything went smooth.

Time to look in the center tunnel and measure where to drill and locate the inboard eye bolts for the harnesses. We be drilling now!

Re-using the stock wiring to keep the seatbelt light from coming on. You can also just pull the bulb from the gauge pod. But we wanted to see how it would work. It ended up being a piece of cake to do and we have no warning lights!

Here I am "eyeballing" the rear drop links for the AR bar. When you set up drop links you want to have no pre-load on them while the car is weighted. Obviously the car is up on the lift right now, but we've used the Tarett drop links before and can get them pretty close so that you just make a slight tweek when the car's wheels are weighted.

Let's finish the belts and seats. As a BSX car, we will leave in the 3 point belts and have the eyehooks in place to clip in the harnesses when needed.
