It's hard to understand why they didn't do something over the winter to restore curbing outside of where they paved over the old red/white curbs. I know the paving job last fall was rushed in between events, so you can understand them not getting everything done in one shot, but they've certainly had every opportunity to make things right with so much good weather this past winter!
I'll be out there for the first time this year at the April Potomac event.
I was just there last weekend instructing for Car Guys. The new paving covered over the red & white exit curbing at turns 3 and 9, but the exits are still in the same places. The track is definitely more grippy than ever before and it's a bit faster.

Are the "old" red/white turtles still there or were they paved over?
As Chris said it's not actually widened but it looks like it.
The abrupt paving for me was most noticeable in T1, entering T3, going down the chute, and comming out of 8.
The curbing is also still there in T1 & 3 but is not as prominent due to the pavement being higher.

The area that can get you into trouble is after you exit turn 3. We used to get all the way to the left to set up for the turn-in to turn 4 (the chute). They've widened a portion of the track (on the left side) that approaches the turn-in to turn 4, but it hasn't been widened all the way to turn-in so, to be safe, you need to be a bit to the right of the left edge of the track as you approach turn 4Mr. B
Any videos of the track after the new paving? Thanks.
If you were familiar with the track before re-paving, you will have no trouble adapting to the new version. Use your first couple of laps to orient yourself and you'll find that's all that you need.

Like I told my green student who had never been there just stay in third gear for the first couple of laps (with your arm out!) and you'll be fine Paolo

A bit faster?? The track is at least 2 seconds a lap faster!! The consensus among our red and black group drivers is two seconds, but some say its more like three. Watch for new track records at the Potomac Club Race in October.

SCCA Regional & National racing will occur long before October and I'm certain many new track records will be set.

Oh boy....... now I have to learn a new skill never encountered before......
It was repaved just before the SCCA Driver's School in Oct.
But, some sections deteriorated, and those sections were repaved just before last weekends Car Guys event.
