Default Source for Brake Duct Piping

I'm trying to find out the vendor that sold me the piping for my brake cooling ducts. I'm replicating the set up I had in my old car, but since I sold the car I gave all the receipts to the new owner. I forget if it was OG Racing, Speedware Motorsports, Apex Performance, or somebody else... I went to all three sites and couldn't find it. If you know of a vendor please let me know. Thanks!

Anyone ever use generic ducting for this as opposed to "racing" ducting? Seems like any thin metal (or heat resistant fabric) and coil type duct would work as long as the diameter is correct.

NICE. The "Double Neoprene-Coated Fiberglass Duct Hose" can be had in virtually any diameter and is about $5 a foot.

Cheaper stuff just wears out quicker from the constant flexing every time you turn the wheels.

Not to highjack your thread, but are you putting these on a RSA? If so, what are you using for the duct backing plates? I have a friend that is looking for them for his RSA and can't find them anywhere.

Hi Bob, I don't understand what you mean by a"backing plate." I pretty much use the same method described here: http://pcarworkshop.com/index.php/99..._Cooling_Ducts

Back on topic, Aircraft Spruce seems to have the best prices, and sell by the foot. My experience with the 964 is that you need 3.5ft on the driver side (if you have A/C, or 3 ft if you don't) and 3 ft on the passenger side, so 7 ft tops total.

Don't waste your money on anything but thin wall silicone material. The Race Parts link above gives you all you need to source this wherever, but stay with these specs.

OK , I understand now.
Supposedly, there was a plate that attaches behind the rotor (similar to the old "dust" backing plates that held the heat in) with a duct attachement. They don't make them for 964's any more, but you can get them for 993's.

Bob, I didn't use any backing plates. I didn't find them necessary. Just zip tied the duct to the suspension and that did the trick. I'm planning to do the same in the RSA.

Not exactly. The part you link is simply a more efficient way of delivering air to the center of the rotor than just pointing your 3" hose at it. Some 911s have an open rotor center, which allows a lot of good cooling air to blow straight through the the outside fo the rotor without doing any real cooling work. The backing plate, or block-off plate, prevents that loss of cooling air. The pics you are showing is a 944Turbo S rotor, which does not have this problem.
Some 964 guys here will tell you if the 964 needs block-off plates.

HI-JACK

Tony do you have the KISS oil cooler? If so, could you PM a quick and dirty explanation of how you dealt with the inlet on that side?

I am planning on NOT using a backing plate. There are some good recent photos on the 944 turbo board of a decent setup I plan on emulating. I have the tools to make backing plates, I just don't see the need. I'd rather not draw something up and plasma cut if I don't have to. I am not sure if the 964 struts have something similar to my brake scope mounts to bolt to though.
