Thanks for the tip. I'll look into it.

I got more pics snapped but my little boy just got home from school. Time to get off the computer. I'll post the pics here after dinner.

I am lucky I get to keep and work on the car there. I live in a 100 year old brownstone, no parking. I think they drove horses when it was built ..LOL Dell check out the website for garage goodies. If you want anything email Steve and tell him I referred you : )

More pics.........

some of the pics seem to be optical illusions based on the angle I took them. The garage door actually sits HIGHER than the roofline of the car. As well, the garage door opener sits in the middle of the garage ceiling and the drive, cord, unit, etc,, come nowhere close to the car

and pics of the sliding jacks.......

only problem is that with the cup brake ducts up front I have to have the lift adapters removed and then insert them AFTER I have the car in place. No big deal though. You can see the arms just barely clear the brake ducts and then the one pic with the adapter in place for demonstration purposes to show it would rip it right off.

Dell, thanks for taking the pictures of the garage door change for me. I think I can make this work for me.

BTW, your SY GT3 looks beautiful. I soooo regret getting rid of my 04 SY one. (sigh)

Thanks Jeff. She's a gem. That SC you have there is one sweet looking 911 though!!! Gorgeous paint scheme.

Let me know if there are any more pics I can snap. Any excuse to go back out into the garage

Paul,

I had a local guy who ownes a garage door installation business raise my door the 30" necessary to clear the car when the lift is fully extended.

It cost me about $425 and took him about 4-5 hours.

You should be able to find someone local who can do this.

BTW, The guy who did the work for me had one arm. I was impressed!

I just got a quote for this because my door is old and I broke a spring. $2300.00 for a new insulated garage door. Lift the track so that it's about 6" from the ceiling and put in a chamberlain liftmaster 3800 jackshaft opener. This way it will be clear at the top and the jackshaft gives you the ability to put the door as close to the ceiling as possible.

One arm! Wow!

Has anyone with a 4 post lift tried to drop a transaxle or engine. I have a 944 and plan on adding a 914-6 to the mix as well. My use will be mostly for storage purposes, but would want to able able to do a clutch job on both vehicles as well as other work that would be best with a 2 post? So that's the rub? What's worse a susp that hangs or the ease of storage a 4 poster? My ceiling height is 9, 6in, before the door, so about 9ft. Any ideas would be appreciated.

If you need to be able to do the work you say, then a 2-post would be better. As far as the suspension, just remove the wheel so you don't have 40-50 pounds pulling down on every corner.

Dell,

What are the dimensions of your garage.

2.5 car can mean a lot of different things.
