Default Building on the "LIFT" thread....garage transformation complete!

One before picture and several after.

Before: Empty 2.5 car garage

After: Cabinet storage, Race Deck Tuffshield flooring, 4 post Lift.

Had to have the garage door raised to the ceiling to get room for the lift but other than that, everything went together great. Couldn't be happier!!!

Enjoy the pics!

I talked to Damon and their product chained together probably wouldn't work for me. I am going to build something in the next week or so. I have to be able to store at least 3 sets of wheels.

What other after pics do you want to see?

Here's one front directly behind........

Looks awsome. Love the brick inside the garage along the bottom. Where did you get your flooring? Looks great.

I just bought a scissor lift and will be building a ramp system and thought about building a very wide permanant platform like Bill Verburg and covering it in tiles like that where it just looks like a raised floor around the car and its work area.

What other special features did you build into your garage? Air system, heating, cooling, water, sink, washer/dryer etc...

Nice job.

Thanks for the compliments. Heating and cooling I am still working on a contractor for as there is a theater room that still needs to be completed above the garage. Water and W/D are just inside the house past the "mud room" area so no need in the garage. Air is a pancake compressor that I plug in. I do know now that I need more lighting which will be added as well.

I guess it would help if I posted the vendor links

WOW, SWEET DEAL!

Dell, how tall a garage do you need for a 4 post lift?

Dell,

Looks great man... So how is the clearance with the sliding jack?

Looking to do the same very shortly.

That is debateable and was actually quite the topic of conversation in the other lift thread. Personally, I wouldn't rec'd anything less than 10 ft but one guy did a 9ft and it just didn't look like it was safe. Since you have to RAISE the lift to lower it, you run the risk of smashing the ceiling if not careful. THe easy math is to take the height of the 2 cars and add 8 inches. That will give you the absolute bare minimum with practically wedging everything in. To 911's (50" ea.) and the 8" for the ramps and locks takes you right at 9'. Don't forget, you also have a garage door and raising issues. My cieling is 11 at it's highest point and just over 10.5' at it's shortest and then the garage door sits another 6 inches off the cieling and I am just enough comfortable with that. Some of the guys that have done this in a 9' garage IMHO are just asking for trouble one day when they accidentally raise a mm to much.

Plenty without the sliding jacks (however they are installed and are NOT going anywhere) ......so literally a mm or two clearance because of the Cup brake ducts (without them would be NO PROBLEM). I just have to make sure the adapters are NOT in the sliding arms when loading or unloading the car. They need to be inserted AFTER the car is where you want it. Damn those cup ducts!

The lift rests directly on the tiles. The Racedeck tiles are engineered to withstand 20K# of weight. The posts are NOT bolted to the concrete as they are not required to be. The lift has casters that allow you to move it should you decide. However, as soon as I get the "perfect" placement figured out, I'll probably have it bolted down for added measure. But again, it's not needed.
