Looks great Dell, Congrats! I wish I had that extra half for storage myself.

Hi Dell,
Not sure if you answered this already, but how much of an ordeal was it to raise the garage door?

DT you crazy ****. I can't believe you did that while your wife was away! JK.

Looks great! Seems to be good lighting in there too.

It was great before the lift but now the lighting is just ok since the car raised basically blocks one of the two flourescent casings. I think more would be better

It cost about $600 in parts and labor to move it to the ceiling. Basically just longer tracks and bigger springs and drums. I can post some pics of the door itself when I get home this evening.

Looks great!
I will post my garage pics very soon - when it is done.
One idea for the tire/wheel storage is to use a Racor storage platform from costco.com. It raises and lowers to the ceiling. I ordered 4 of them for 4 sets of wheels. Easy to load and then crank it up and they are out of the way. I will try and post a link.

Looks great! My Garage has only 8.5 ft of clearance. I've wanted a two post lift for over 15 years. The pitch of the roof precludes any reasonable mod to the garage. Guess it won't happen 'til I move. Fortunately, I can fit 4 cars and a bunch of stuff in it. A couple of rebuilds have occurred in it.

Very nice. Why the four post lift vs. a two post? Clearance issues getting the lift arms under the car?

2 post was of no interest to me as I will use it more for storage than service. As well, all the service I do can be done on either lift. My race shop guy has the 2 post

Dell that looks awesome!

I recently did the same (minus the lift) -- for me, installing a lift means that I automatically have to get another car that is "garage worthy" aka RS America from Dhinkle Right now, my truck and the wife's company car sleep outside.

here is my before:

here is my after:

Race deck
Lista cabinets
wall mount vacuum and compressor in back right corner
great lighting -- forgot the name -- 6 tube super bright -- easily cable adjustable etc.
All items sourced through Griot's

I got some quotes from garage specialists and was blown away by the price... so I went and saw the guys at Griots and told them what I was looking for and they were great... They were able to provide the products and contractor to get the job done at a price I could deal with. They are local for me and I pitched it to them as a possible marketing opporunity for them etc in order to negotiate the price down.
There were some scheduling snafus with the install but I realized that they were giving me a great deal and that this was the first garage they did from soup to nuts so to speak.

I have some tire issues as well, but when I clean "garage" I will ultimately have only one full extra (track) set around and I am thinking the tire rack product in the back left corner.

Good work Dell -- looks great! Take a look at Griots for your lighting upgrade...
