Default Towing with the 2008 Sequoia

I see it's rated at 10,000 lbs. Anyone have any towing experiences to share?

I tow an open 18' Aluma trailer with my 964 to and from the track using my 2002 Sequoia.

My only suggestion is to get a good brake controller. I had the dealer install one but they installed the cheapest crap one they could find. Towing was a gawd-awful nightmare. I replaced it with a Prodigy (see http://www.tekonsha.com/prodig.html) and it made a huge difference.

+1 on the new Tundra Platform. I am thinking it's a very capable platform. I was checking the specs and I think it has air suspension as an option. It may also have a towing package too.

I suspect it will be an excellent tow platform. I am not sure I would run 10k on Sequoia or even as much as the Tundra, but I suspect it will be as good a Towing SUV as you can get short of a diesel Excursion. Just remember the wheelbase is shorter then the Tundra.

Reggie what type of trailer(open-closed?) and weight do you plan on towing? Regardless, make sure you get their towing package with a tranny cooler....

Right now, I'm sticking with my 2,000 lb open steel traier. However, I'm thinking about parting ways with my 170,000+ mile 1997 Expedition sooner rather than later. My options are A) Buy a new SUV to replace the Expy. or B) Buy a new car for wife and use her 2003 Ranger Rover as a DD/tow vehicle. If I go with option A, it would be nice to buy a SUV that will be able to handle an enclosed trailer when I buy one in the next year or two. If I go with option B, I don't gain much in towing capacity (the RR and Expy are pretty similar).

The 2500 suburban/yukon w/ the 8.1L and the 4.10 gears would be an option for an enclosed trailer.

I tow with a Tundra. Although they are different vehicles, the Tundra pulls exceptionally well, and gets much better mileage than my F150 did. +1 on the Prodigy

I am not sure I would tow an enclosed trailer with a Sequoia. I would tow a small enclosed with a Tundra however. Even so I would be carefull to keep the weight down. I would be happy to tow an open trailer behind the Sequoia.

The difference between the Tundra and Sequoia is stick axle, longer wheel base and stiffer suspension on Tundra. They may be rated the same, but I don't consider them the same.

I just got done doing a whole bunch of commercials for the sequoia, so I had to look at it a lot for a couple months. It is a pretty amazing vehicle.

I don't want to hijack the thread but what does the prodigy have that makes it better than the others. I am about to buy a controller, for Trailex trailer.

The Sequoia has the same driveline and engine, but the wheelbase is only 122" compared with the 145" of the Tundra or 156" of the short bed F-250. For the 24' enclosed trailer I imagine buying the Sequoia is too short. I wish it were not.

Im geting ready to buy a Prodigy also, and have read a bit and asked a bunch of questions. The key difference is that it varies the trailer braking based on how hard your are braking the tow vehicle. Lesser brake controllers have a *** that you manually dictate how much braking is done. They use the same braking force if you are gently coming to a stop or panic braking. The Prodigy brakes gently when you are braking gently and panic brakes when you need it. Not sure how it does it.
