What's the maximum you weight you would consider adding to change classes? What criteria would you use in your consideration? How would you add that weight, safety first.

First, the PCA GT class rules DO NOT specify how much weight you are allow to install as "ballast type weight". The only rule says that you can only add enough to move one class period. So, legally, you can add quite a bit, but I suspect that rule will be changed for 2009... If you add more than about 150lbs, I would consider a ballast box, or consider using a different way to add weight (remove lightweight parts). Are you thinking of moving from GT3 to GT4?

Seriously, many racing organizations restrict how much you can ad and specify where it has to be mounted. I'm sure others with more experience will chime in.

Cheese burgers, fries and post 40 year mark. Pounds go on like magic.
Balance would be key in adding weight. Maybe ballast in the passenger seat area to counter driver and even out corner weighting.

I'm thinking about the NASA racing. I'm in GTS4, but just under 100# from qualifying for GTS3. I'm thinking I can review the entrants and change my class to enter the one w/the most entrants.
In PCA, I'm looking forward to racing in the GT3s class, changing from GT2s. I've alread bought my new "3" numbers

The ballast in my car has a frame built around it with 'legs' to mount through floor. It looks like a single unit. Clean. It is mounted in the front foot well on the passenger side. I can't find a brand. Sorry.
Edit: Looking closely I think the frame was fabricated from angle iron to fit the ballast.

I would use a fabricated bo, and lead weights like posted above. There really is no issue putting in 250-300lbs of ballast into a car, so long as it is secured well.
