Default New Hans

Met with HANS Performance Products last week at the PRI show in Orlando. They have come out with a new "value priced" Hans device for $695 with standard tethers.

Here are the details:
  • Model 20 size M hopefully available January 2, 2008 (possibly earlier)
  • Sizes available - to be produced in the upcoming months after they roll out the Model 20 M - Model 20 Large, 20 XL, Model 30M and 30L - $695 for standard tethers, $730 for Quick Disconnect tethers
  • Sport Series - new for 2008, value priced, thick-wall carbon molding technology $695 standard tethers
  • Extra Series - lightweight, all carbon pre-preg construction $895 standard tethers
  • Professional Series - Ultimate lightweight protection $1295 standard tethers
  • The Sport model weighs about a lb. more than the "Extra" series. If you hold the "Extra" series and the "Sport" series, you can notice the weight difference. Users with neck problems or collar bone issues may want to stick with the "Extra" or "Professional" series units.
  • SFI approved(as of last week), expecting FIA approval in the near future

HANS has also introduced a new "Vision Plus Advantage" kit with a sliding tether system to allow 100% mobility side to side - more than any other head & neck restraint on the market. Available in standard version only, Quick Disconnects to probably follow. Upgrade with a hans purchase is $15 additional, the Vision kit to upgrade your existing device is $75 and includes tethers, tether carriers and nut washers that need replaced on the posts in the helmet. New posts kits will eventually have the upgraded washers with any Hans purchase once they phase out the old washers on the existing stock.

Hans has also leveled the pricing between Model 20 and Model 30 devices for anyone that has a need for the more reclined Model 30.

We will be updating our website soon but anyone interested in pre-ordering, feel free to give us a call or email.

PS - Sounds like HANS will be scrambling to get the new lower priced models into production so if you can get a Hans or other SFI H&N Restraint, recommend getting it in preparation for the new requirement in June and avoid the rush.

Safety Solutions also introduced a new "value priced" unit at PRI last week as well, I think it's called the Rage for $695.

Clarke,
Just sent you email about a Vision upgrade for my HANS. Sounds perfect. The limited side mobility has always bugged me, so this is truly good news.

Cheers,
Tony K

Please send me one of these too. Great development. 944 Cup racers, when ordering from Apex, be sure to ask for your 944 Cup discount.

Has anyone seen the enhanced vision system? How does it work?

Great, now I won't be able to come backing out of my parking spot with the "HANS can't see.. sorry" excuse.

Your solution is a rear view camera. It's going to be the next trend in PCA racing. They are using them pretty heavily in FIA racing in Europe. With the addition of HANS and Halo seats it's probably a beautiful thing in a Lambo, Ferrari, and other poor sightline cars.

I think we'll see this popping up in PCA as guys run out of car upgrades to spend money on.

I was thinking more along the lines of a truck back-up alarm... and when I try and open the NASA rules Adobe (8.1) says the file is damaged and can't be repaired..

Went directly to NASA and got the 2008 GTS Rules - http://www.gtschallenge.com/rules.htm , but still get the damaged file error for general NASA Rules even from a direct line from there..

Seen it, carrying it and getting one for my HANS.

Instead of two separate tethers it is one long tether. Where the current tether mounts are, they install two guides for the HANS tether to slide through. It no longer threads through the device and back on itself. It solves the only issue I've ever had with my HANS. It is something that will make vision in paddock much nicer but I doubt I'll notice it on the track. The new tethers will also carry the FIA certification.

Is there a different link to the new rules? The link you posted above pulls up version 2007.26, from 9/3/07.
