If you don't want to install wheel speed sensor, you can also calculate gear using GPS speed.
I think that vehicles with Stability Management would have a steering angle sensor that you might be able to tap into.

Look at the G2X from racepak, I can tell you all about it off line if you wish, easy to install and easy to use. Good price point also.

Please share. Are you recording any additional sensors other than RPM? How many and which ones? Are you using Racepak sensors (great selection) or other sensors? If non-racepak sensors, how easy where they to hook up?
Thanks.

Scott,
One of my rigs is a G2X which is fitted with a couple of Racepak VNET sensors:
- 0-5V analog which is connected to the TPS for throttle position
- Digital event which is connected to the brake switch
- The mandatory Aux to VNEt cable which brings these and any other VNET sensors in the G2X.
These generic sensors run around $100 each, plus around $100 for the VNET cable.
No sensor required for RPM, of course.

It's a snap to set up. There's a short flash video clip using this setup HERE

Thanks for the info.
One of the confusions I was having was do you need one $100 vnet cable for each sensor (ie, min $100 per sensor), or do you just need one vnet cable to add as many sensors as you want ($100 for as many sensors as you want)?

Fortunately, its one Aux to VNET for all. The individual sensor connectors plug up in a piggy-back stack. The connector system is quite sophisticated, with o-ring moisture sealing and positive locks. Its a nice system.
