Requiring an updated helmet (eg Snell 2000) when the new one is no better, yours is undamaged, and there is absolutely no evidence that there is an age-related failure rate for helmets. After all, it is the risk of the guy wearing the helmet. I can understand making sure the face shield isn't too scratched to see out of, as that impacts other drivers. The uprated helmet requirement is the "Snell benefit and annuity act"
Excess vigor at tech inspection. Checking lug nut torque makes some sense, but the stuff that fails is never what they check (okay, here is where you argue "it didn't fail cuz they checked it"). Do they really check the hose clamps for tightness, the trans for shift-ability, brake discs or cooling? Nope, but's that 's the suff that fails.

Another possible topic is "Instructors from HELL" and then naming the instructor.
This was 6 months ago that I did the above, not starting the topic but contributing to the thread. I'm still suffering repercussions. The instructor never replied because "he does not have a computer". I posted my complaint in the public forum rather than OT, so the instructor could respond.
A couple of lessons learned...
Never name the instructor that told you on day one; first time on a track, first session, instructor being fully informed that I am as green as they come, that grabbed the wheel to keep you on line, shouting that I AM A F**CKING GREENIE...
...DEs are not worth putting out the $ to take the chance that I will get another "Instructor from HELL".
Please, before I start getting requests for more info, this was an isolated incident and not typical of most green group instructors. But when I get asked at a PCA meeting months after the event "What the HELL where you thinking when you posted on Rennlist about @#$%^& instructing you? I got a call from ????? who talked to ????? that then talked to ?????? about what the HELL went on, Why did you post this on Rennlist?"
My reply was "You knew my phone #, why didn't you tell them to call me?"
Well, this instructor helped me decide where I'm taking my track $. I'm auto crossing. No instructor needed. Thanks alot!
Can you tell I'm still bitter about this?
